Bothers and Katz - Today, we are in the computer lab to complete the Math Inventory. We are also working on Mini-Touchstones to assess mastery of GCF/LCM and long division, and make sure we're ready for the unit test! Once those are complete, students are working on their IXL standards (these are also great practice for the test)! Tomorrow, we will take the Unit 1 Mid-Unit Test on GCF/LCM and long division! Leach - Students finished their Unit 1 Test and reviewed long division! Ledesma - Today, students took the Unit 1 Test. The 6th-grade school counselor, Mrs. Would, will be in our class for a lesson tomorrow!
Bothers: Today, we practiced division, and interpreting the remainder in real-world problems. We will take our test on Friday! HW is MSG page 4. The answer key and video explanation are posted below.
Leach: Today, we practiced division, and interpreting the remainder in real-world problems. We will take our test tomorrow! HW: Study for Unit 1 Halfway-There Test tomorrow; Continue IXL (E9, E11, E12, C3, C5 - ongoing) Ledesma: Today, we practiced division, and interpreting the remainder in real-world problems. We will take our test on Thursday!
HW: MSG pg. 16 (right side). Study for Test Thursday.. Don’t forget to work on IXL (due September 3rd)
Katz - Today my classes were in different places due to timing and based on where they are in the material.
Bothers - Mrs. Would, our 6th-grade school counselor, came in today to discuss the role of counselors. We will take a quiz tomorrow on long division. HW: IXL standards C1 and E11 are due Monday!
Leach - Students continued solving problems using long division. HW: Continue working on IXL standards C1, E4 and E7; Quiz Corrections due by FRIDAY stapled to the quiz! Ledesma - Students solved problems using long division. HW for 1st and 2nd Periods: Long division Wkst (Choose 5 problems- may do all 10 for extra credit). HW for 4th period- MSG pg. 13; IXL is due Sept. 3 Shaw:Today we reviewed solving long division problems, and how to write the remainder as a fraction. We also examined the solving of long division problems with quotients written as decimals.Examples and models were provided on smart board and in MSG-students are to complete classwork as homework-page 16 of their MSG.We will continue to review and practice these in class tomorrow.(Whenever practicable students are to work on building number fluency skills and on IXL).
Videos and websites for extra practice: Snorks Long Division Game
Bothers: Today, students continued practicing long division with the standard algorithm. We worked through practice problems on the board, and we also watched the Flocabulary video. Check out any of the videos below for extra help! HW: MSG p. 15 (the RIGHT side only); IXL C1 and E11 are due on Monday!
Katz: Today, the students took a "pop quiz" on Long Division Word Problems. They we took notes on the long division standard algorithm. Any time we had left was used to practice the skill. HW: Long Division Practice Sheet (Pick any 4) - Tomorrow's homework will be to complete the sheet.
Leach: Students continued to practice long division with the standard algorithm. HW: Quiz Corrections due by FRIDAY stapled to the quiz; IXL standards C1, E4 and E7 due by FRIDAY Ledesma: Students applied GCF & LCM to real-world problem solving. HW: GCF & LCM Practice sheet Shaw:Today we reviewed GCF and LCM word problems, and students were engaged in solving long division problems using standard algorithm and writing remainders as a fractions.(Demonstrations, modeled examples on white boards and in their MSG were provided-Classwork completion Page 15 MSG to be done at home.(students need to work on number fluency skills and IXL-a quiz on number facts will be done tomorrow to check on their progress ).IXL is an important support to developing proficiency and students are encouraged to practice regularly.
