Katz - Today we got instructions in terms of class assignments and expectations while we are out of the building. Students were told that their learning was not to stop simply because they weren't going to be in the building. We will be updating the blog daily while we are out and our expectation is that the students will complete all assigned work. The assignments will be graded as they are due and put into StudentVue. I will be available by email and possibly Skype while we are out. I plan to check emails frequently and will get back in touch as soon as possible. Some of the tools we will be using will be:
Shaw:Today students completed a Quiz on -Measures of center, Measures of spread and Box and Whisker Plot-distribution of data and interpreting the graphed data.
In view of school closure students were presented with a package to work on including assigned IXL skills. The blog contains information on all units with additional resources, any concern(s) please feel free to communicate with me for clarification and help using my email. READING is also a worthwhile endeavor students can work on,- read vigorously to develop your math reasoning skills.
Ledesma - Today, we took the Unit 6 pre-test and talked about how to identify statistical questions. HW: Unit 6 Vocabulary MSG pgs. 3 & 4 and Statistical Question Worksheet Bothers - Today, students were introduced to frequency tables and histograms. We watched the Study Jams and worked through the MSG. HW: IXL GG.6, GG.11, and GG.12 are due on Friday Leach - Today, we are continuing to work with creating and interpreting box plots.HW: Box plot worksheet (both sides); IXL GG19 Shaw:Today we reviewed measures of center and variability-mean, median ,mode , range, and interquartile range. We demonstrated how data can be distributed on a box plot- using the five key pieces of information-minimum value, maximum value, median, quartile 1 and quartile 3.Practiced on the smart board, MSG and poster example was done for the class. Students have not completed yesterday's assignment, and today students have a classwork worksheet to complete for a grade on Box and Whisker Plot. Students are to continue working on IXL skills assigned(check MSG for assigned skills)
Bothers - HW: Finish class work. IXL GG.11 and GG.12 are due Friday. Katz - I hope you had a great weekend! This is the last week of the quarter. No late work will be accepted after Tuesday. Here is a look at our week ahead:
Leach - Today in class we are reviewing measures of center and finding measures of spread/variability. HW: Measures of Spread Worksheet and keep working on IXL HH.2 & HH.3. Shaw:Today students had extended time to complete Quiz from last Friday(5 questions-4 on statistical questions and 1 on mean, median , mode and range-20points each). We reviewed mean ,median ,mode and range-examples on smart board, and then transitioned to Measures of Spread-range and interquartile range-worked examples on smart board-and examples given to students on(MSG pages 9a and 9b and on WS Measures of Variability-Interquartile Range and Range-examples given on work sheet and assigned for completion for tomorrow. IXL-GG 3, 4, 6 and 11-to be completed on Friday. Wednesday and Thursday we will continue to work on Measures of Center, Measures of Spread, and the distribution of data-using the BOX and Whisker Plot-MSG for examples and notes. Assignment-Tuesday for Wednesday-WS on finding the mean, median, mode, range, and Inter quartile range.
Bothers - Students quizzed on statistical questions, mean, median, mode, and range.
HW: None Katz - Students took a quiz on statistical questions, mean, median, mode, and range. HW: None Leach - Today, we are in the lab working on IXL for standards taught so far in Unit 6. HW: Continue to work on IXL standards from sheet in lab today (HH1, HH2, HH3, GG3) Ledesma - Today, we are taking Unit 5 Mini-Post Test. HW: Work on Hot Pink IXL due: MONDAY! Unit 5 Test Tuesday. Bothers - Today, students learned to interpret dot plots and to calculate mean, median, mode, and range from a dot plot. HW: MSG p. 12a; IXL HH.1, HH.2, HH.8, GG.3 Katz - Today we continued to learn about Mean, Median, Mode, Range and IQR. We are a little behind schedule, so today's homework has been altered. HW: IXL HH.2 and HH.7 Leach - Today in class we are practicing finding mean, median, and mode.HW: IXL HH1 & Unit 5 Post Test corrections are due by tomorrow for recovery points Ledesma - Today, students practiced finding volume with fractional edges. HW: Volume & Surface Area WS; Work on Hot Pink IXL
Shaw: Today we reviewed measures of center: mean, median ,mode and measures of spread:. range (inter quartile range will be discussed later). We discussed also how information garnered from statistical questions have to represented, analyzed, and interpreted.(We will address in greater details next week-skewness of data, clusters, gaps and peaks and the impact of outlier on data).
HW and CLASSWORK were marked and graded for feedback-this was based on the concepts- mean, median , mode and range.(MSG page 8b and worksheet on statistical questions and finding the above MMM and R. WE will continue practicing tomorrow and students will have the opportunity to Complete IXL HH, 1,2, and 3-now that they have stock knowledge on these. All outstanding work need to submitted tomorrow- for 3rd NINE WEEK REPORT. Bothers - Today, students practiced calculating the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. HW: MSG p. 10b (skip IQR); IXL HH.1, HH.2, HH.8, and GG.3 are due Friday Katz - Today we were in the Computer Lab. Students completed some review activities and IXL. All late work is due today! Go to this link to complete today's computer lab work. HW: IXL HH.7 Leach - Today, we are learning to find mean, median, and mode and reviewing statistical questions.HW: Worksheet – both sides, Test Corrections are due by FRIDAY for recovery points! Ledesma - Today, we are practicing finding volume with fractional edges. HW: MSG pg. 22all. Work on IXL . Shaw:Today we reviewed Statistical Questions and marked HW on same(WS). On the subject, we addressed for understanding how data are represented(MSG 6a and 6b) , analyzed and interpreted.
We addressed in detail with examples the concepts related to Measures of Center-Mean , Median and Mode(and Range).MSG 7b and 8a. Assignment-MSG 8b Nos 1-10-Mean, Median and Mode.
Ledesma - Today, we practiced Volume in the computer Lab through IXL. HW: Work on Hot Pink IXL (Surface Area and Volume)
