We also played Gimkit to become familiar with the vocabulary. HW: Area of square/rectangle wkst (both sides) Bothers - Today, students practiced finding area of triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids. We will quiz this topic on Friday. HW: Unit 5 Vocabulary MSG pgs. 3 & 4. Use this Quizlet link! Shaw- Today we marked classwork and homework assignments. These were reviewed with students- all problems were worked on the smart board and students were allowed time to check and correct their work. A mixed worksheet was given as classwork practice-students were guided in completing 14 questions(some students completed these in the assigned time, and requested to continue working for additional practice .Students have the option to choose any 14 questions to complete as homework. Students have multiple worksheets on finding areas with examples, and a summary sheet with all the polygons , the formulas and examples to assist them. We will begin our QUIZ tomorrow. (NB- all classwork, homework assignments, and IXL-assigned skills will be assessed on Friday. (Touchstone test on Friday on Areas of polygons).

Katz - Today we continued working on finding area of polygons using a formula and substitution. HW: IXL FF.4 Leach - Today, students learned to find the area of trapezoids. They also practiced finding area of rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles. HW: Area of Triangles practice sheet; Unit 4 Post Test Corrections are due by FRIDAY for recovery points Shaw:Today we reviewed areas of triangles, rectangles, squares, parallelograms and worked on trapezoids- explained the formula-modeled examples for students - notes in their MSG and on the smart board.(MSG pages 9a and 9b). HW assignment-Worksheets- on finding the areas of polygons -triangles, rectangles squares, parallelogram and trapezoids(including finding the length of missing sides) Requirement for work completion-FORMULA, SUBSTITUTE, SOLVE AND WIRITE THE ANSWERS WITH THE CORRECT UNIT-SQUARE UNITS FOR AREA. IXL assigned skills are due on Friday.(Have observed students using the calculator without writing to find areas-we are looking for the procedural steps on assignments and quizzes. Katz - I hope you all had a great weekend! We are starting a new unit on geometry this week. Calculators may be used. Students may not use phones as calculators, but are encouraged to have their own simple calculator in class every day. Here is a look at the week ahead.:

Shaw:Today we continued working on areas of triangles and other quadrilaterals-rectangles ,squares, and parallelograms. Worked examples on smart board and MSG were provided to all students.
Homework assignments-WS on Triangles and Quadrilaterals.-these are due tomorrow. Students are to continue working on IXL assigned skills (these were assigned for the week-and will be assessed on Friday (Check students agendas for assignments) A summary sheet on areas of geometric figures that have to be completed for this unit was given to students with examples-please revise ! A quiz on areas will be done on Thursday/Friday.
Shaw: Today we worked on using the formula(A=bh)/2-to find the areas of various triangles.MSG- page 8 and on smart board- work modeled for students showing all the steps: Formula, substitute into formula, and solve-answers to be written in square units/unit square.
Classwork given to students-(worksheet)these were to be done in class-most students completed their work and the others are due on Monday-(this will be graded as classwork-no credit if the procedural are not followed). Students are expected to work on IXL skills assigned -check agenda, MSG for guidance-scores are to be recorded in MSG. Bothers - Today, students took the Unit 4 Test. There is no homework. Katz - Today we finally took the Unit 4 End of Unit Test. I gave classes an extra day of review yesterday. The students also received their new MSG today. HW: IXL FF.2; Quizlet Vocab MSG pg. 1 Leach - Today, students learned to find the area of triangles. HW: IXL FF.3 Ledesma - Today, students learned to write and graph inequalities. HW: MSG pgs. 18 and 19a; Yellow IXL due Monday! Shaw: Today we commenced understanding the vocabulary concepts associated with Areas of Triangles-(Area, types of triangles ,base, height, formula ,unit used for area, substituting into the formula-All vocabulary definitions must be completed and revised for tomorrow).

HW-Study MSG page 8a and complete 8b 'you try- a-e) IXL assigned skills FF2, FF3 and FF 4 will be checked tomorrow(please solve these by using pencil and paper-it will be good for building stock knowledge. There will be an in class evaluation on Finding the Areas of Triangles-all procedural steps to be followed-FORMULA, SUBSTITUTE GIVEN VALUES, AND SOLVE-AREAS MUST BE WRITTEN IN SQUARE UNITS. Bothers - Today, students completed a review of equations, inequalities, and direct variation to prepare students for tomorrow's test. HW: Finish Unit 4 Review; Test is tomorrow! Leach - Today in class we previewed Unit 5 vocab and standards. HW: IXL FF2 – Area of rectangles and squares Ledesma - Students learned to write inequalities and graph them on number lines. HW: MSG p. 16b and 17b Shaw:Today students received their MSGs-(please check with your students), with all materials needed to study this UNIT.
Students are expected to complete/write the vocabulary definitions and research same if necessary. Students also need to revise the concept map/standards to understand what is required to learn in this lesson.(including the circle map). IXL skills have been assigned for this unit-FF2 and FF3- (student have the required skills in their MSGs and scores are to be recorded). Tomorrow we will begin this unit- Lesson one: Areas of Right Triangles and other triangles. Finding areas and applying the formula to find areas of Right Triangles and other triangles. Bothers: Students practiced Unit 4 skills in the computer lab. We worked on Mini-Touchstones and IXL. Homework: Complete any past-due Unit 4 IXL standards with at least an 80 (these standards are Z.1, Z.2, Z.3, Z.4, Z.New, Z.New, Z.6, Z.8, AA.1, AA.2, AA.3, BB.1, R.14, and R.17). All IXL assigned skills on unit 4 are to be completed for evaluation on Tuesday -achievement level 80% and above.
