Students continued to practice finding the area of composite shapes! Some classes have also discovered surface area. Homework: Bothers: Composite Area WS (pd 2 front only; pd 4 both sides); MobyMax due Monday Katz: Pizzazz puzzle WS on Area (rectangle side); the other side is for extra credit Leach: Pizzazz puzzle on trapezoids, #1-6 only; quiz corrections due Friday Ledesma: MSG p. 178; Have you completed your MobyMax on area?
Today, students learned to find area of composite figures! A composite shape is one that is composed of, or made up of, multiple figures. It must be decomposed, or broken apart, into smaller shapes. Then, find the total sum of all the smaller shapes! Easy, peasy! Homework: Bothers: 3-problem half sheet on composite area; MobyMax due on Monday Katz: Area WS Leach: Area Practice sheet (front only) and quiz corrections Ledesma: Finish Composite Creature, 3-problem half sheet on composite area, and MobyMax on Area
Today, students continued to find the area of polygons! All classes do have an Area WS to complete for homework!
Today, students expanded their understanding of area. We practiced with parallelograms (including rectangles and squares), triangles, and trapezoids. Remember to SHOW ALL STEPS! Write the formula --> Substitute for the variables --> Solve (include sq. units)
Last week was a fun surprise! Now that we've all had the chance to play and relax, we need to hit the ground running in Unit 5! In this unit, students will learn to find the area of rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, and composite figures! They will also learn to find surface area and volume of 3D shapes! Today, Bothers' kids went to the computer lab to work on Mini-Touchstones and MobyMax. Ledesma's kids set up Unit 5 in the MSG. Katz's kids and Leach's kids began learning to find the area of different polygons.
