Today, students reviewed factors and multiples from elementary school. We worked through the examples on MSG page 40. Then, students learned to calculate the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM) of a set of numbers. We explored the "list" method" and the "sled" method. Check out some of the videos and links below for extra practice!
Today, students showed off their skills with decimals and fraction division on a quiz! Stay tuned for shout-outs to the students who made A's!

Leach: Junior, Nathan, Sam, Isabella, Joseph, Yani, Jewel, Angel, Jermaine, Dakahri, Maria, Ruby, and Haani Ledesma: Schwak: We began today with a review of mixed numbers, improper fractions, and simplifying fractions. They worked through page 33 in the MSG. Students must be proficient with these skills in order to succeed in dividing fractions!
Next, students learned to divide fractions. We watched a Flocabulary video (check it out below!) and worked through the problems on pages 38-39 in the MSG. Students began today with a fun Spend It! shopping challenge. Congrats to some of our winners: Sebastian, Maryjane, Brandi, Dave, and Yariel! :) Then, students "went to lunch" at "Dave's Diner." With 50's music in the background, students engaged in a real-world task involving prices from a menu, and they practiced adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. This task is due tomorrow if not finished in class. Homework: Bothers: Finish "Dave's Diner" task Leach: MSG p. 31, choose any 8; Quiz corrections due Friday Ledesma: Text p. 80, bottom only. Show work on separate sheet of paper. Schwak: Preview MSG page 32 & pages 140-142 in textbook (we will begin dividing fractions tomorrow)
Today, students engaged in practice with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. They completed gallery walks (Schwak and Leach) or Face-Off (Ledesma and Bothers). ALL classes will take a quiz this Friday, and all decimal operations will be reassessed.
Today, students learned to multiply decimals! We watched BrainPop and/or Study Jams (see the link below). Students also filled in the notes on MSG page 28.
Today, students took a quiz on long division, dividing decimals, and adding/subtracting decimals. Many students still need to finish their quizzes on Monday, so stay tuned for shout-outs to those who made an A!
