Welcome Back! We all hope you enjoyed your Fall Break and are coming back ready and eager to learn! Bothers: Today, students learned about ratios. This includes what a ratio is, 3 ways to write ratios, and how to simplify ratios. We took notes and watched the "Bad Date" Math Snacks video. Then, we practiced the skill. Leach: Today, students went over their Unit 1 Tests. They also set up the Unit 2 MSG. Homework: Test Corrections are due by FRIDAY on provided forms to earn additional points! IXL R.1 Writing Ratios Ledesma: Students took the Unit 2 Pre-test and went to the lab to take the Mini-Touchstones. Homework: Unit 2 Vocab on MSG p. 3; Work on new IXL (pink)
Shaw: Today we Reviewed-: Touchstones Questions-Unit 1- This will be completed tomorrow (15 mins). Unit 2-Rate, Ratios and Proportional Reasoning- MSG RESOURCE was given to students (Resources available in MSG-Calendar,IXL Skills, Standards, Tracking Log, Vocabulary Concepts and all necessary notes and essential practice questions/exercises.
Tomorrow we will explore the standards, vocabulary concepts ,IXL skills to be completed for this unit. The first new concept will be introduced-RATIOS-MSG 6a and 6b. (Students are expected to work on IXL-R1,R3,R4,R5 and R6-these skills are integral to comprehending this lesson).

Ledesma: Students took the Unit 1: Part 2 Test today. We will be in the lab tomorrow. Leach - Today we took the mini post test to see how far we have come since the beginning of the unit. Then we continued to review for our test on Friday. Homework: IXL L.5 and L.7 are due this FRIDAY. Anyone in 3rd period who did not finish the "Clue" assignment should finish that tonight and hand in tomorrow.

Leach: Today, students practiced dividing fractions and mixed numbers. We also went over the decimals quizzes. Homework: Quiz Corrections are due by FRIDAY for additional quiz points. IXL L.5 Ledesma: Today, students learned to use models and an algorithm to divide fractions. Homework: MSG p. 26 ALL; White IXL is due on Friday! Shaw: Today ,students completed MSG page 26 and we reviewed division of fractions with an in class worksheet (to complete for homework). Tomorrow, we will work on study guide for Post Test on Wednesday ,and Unit 1 Test on Thursday and Friday-There shall be daily remediation of concepts to tested-Decimal Operations and Fractions.(Please follow up with students' revision especially useful will be their MSG and all notes contained therein).
Bothers, Katz, and Leach - Today, we continued to practice dividing fractions. Students took a very short quiz to ensure mastery of the skill. Ledesma - Today, students reviewed basic fractions skills. This included simplifying fractions, converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers, and multiplying fractions. They will need these skills to be successful with fraction division next week! Homework: Bothers: IXL standards I.5, I.9, L.1, and O.5 are due on Monday! Katz: I am extending the deadline for both HW and Recovery Work until Monday at 7am. Students may complete this week's homework over the weekend. Shaw: Today we reviewed all the prerequisite skills students will need to practice division of fractions on white boards and in their MSG's. In addition , division of fractions were modeled to students-using the algorithm(using the reciprocal) and the diagramming method-using concrete examples.
Student have a WS on the prerequisite skills of fractions and revision of decimals. Tomorrow, we will work exclusively on dividing fractions.(Students need to complete IXL skills given on Monday-IXL Skills (I.5, I.9, L.2, L.5 & L.7). Bothers - Today, we are in the computer lab to work on decimal operations and fraction basics (simplifying, mixed numbers, improper fractions, etc.). We are taking a Mini-Touchstone, using IXL, and playing a few games for review (if everything else is finished).
Also, 3rd period students who did not make an A, B, or C on last week's quiz received a pink slip for credit recovery. To bring up the quiz grade, they should complete IXL G.2, H.2, and H.7 by Monday. The pink slip will also need to be signed for credit. HW: IXL standards due on Monday - O.5 (Decimal word problems), I.5 (Write fractions in lowest terms), I.9 (Convert improper fractions and mixed numbers), L.1 (Divide whole numbers by unit fractions using models)
Leach - Today, we are in the computer lab practicing decimal operations and basic fraction concepts on IXL.
HW: Decimals Review Worksheet/Quiz over Decimals tomorrow
Ledesma - Today, students learned/reviewed how to multiply decimals.
HW: MSG p. 20 (right side). New IXL (white) due next week. We are quizzing Thursday! Shaw:Today we reviewed all decimal operations,student also had the opportunity to commence working on IXL -specific to the last lesson of Unit 1-Fractions. Students that needed to be remediated received one differentiated ,concrete and modeled examples with teacher on smartboard and the opportunity to practice-Tomorrow student will be quizzed, and depending on time will be introduced to fraction-concepts and operations-basic understandings before we delve into dividing fractions.(Check MSG for details and worksheets).Continue practicing on IXL-will be graded on Friday.
