Today, we are finishing the Math Inventory. We will take this again mid-year and at the end of the year to assess growth! When you finish, complete the following: 1) Open to MSG page 28 and fill in the guided notes below: Steps to Multiplying Decimals: 1) Multiply. (You do NOT need to line up the decimals!!) 2) Count the number of places behind the decimal in your problem. Your product must have the same number of places behind the decimal. 2) Complete these 7 basic practice problems OR 4 harder practice problems. THERE ARE VIDEOS AND HELPFUL HINTS FOR EACH PROBLEM, SO USE THEM!! Copy the problems and show your work on MSG page 29.
3) Complete MSG page 28 (tonight's HW). I will post these answers this evening for you to check, but remember ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN! Homework: MSG page 28; Quiz corrections due tomorrow; study for tomorrow's quiz on decimal division and multiplication Students continued practicing dividing decimals today. Overall, we're doing a great job with division, but we need to work on lining up the numbers correctly in the quotient (pay attention to place value!). Also, remember to estimate to check whether your answer is reasonable! All classes will be taking the Math Inventory over the next two weeks. This is used to assess strengths and areas of need. We will take it again mid-year, and again at the end of the year to see growth. Bothers and Leach are taking the MI this week, and Ledesma and Katz will take it next week.
