Ledesma - Students worked together on a placemat activity to practice writing and solving equations. HW: “Shoot your shot” Equation WS due Tuesday (must get 18 pts for credit, but can do more for extra credit). Gold IXL due TOMORROW! Equation Quiz Tomorrow. Shaw: Today the mini post test was administered and a Touchstone Test(4 questions) was completed on solving one step equations and inequalities(Both of these will be assessed and graded).
Tomorrow, we will address the UNIT 4 study guide in preparation for UNIT 4 test. In addition, IXL assigned skills will be evaluated-these are necessary prerequisites skills for success on the 6th grade standards.

Leach - Students worked on writing and solving equations from word problems. HW: 1st, 3rd, 4th: Choose 5 problems on each side of the WS; Corrections due by FRI. 2nd: Finish classwork worksheet & Corrections are due by FRIDAY Shaw: Today we summarized Unit 4 using a tree map-identifying the lessons covered and reviewing the main components of each lesson. After the review, we practiced writing equations from word problems-MSG 12b, 13a, 13b and 14 and 14- students have homework assignment from the MSG-following and using the format modeled for them(examples were given). Tomorrow, we will continue with reviewing previous units (student have a WS-Monday to Thursday with problems to reconnect with previous knowledge, and continue we will continue working on word problems. On Wednesday we will review-Inequalities and Direct Variation. On Thursday we will complete the Mini Post Test and work on study guide for the Unit 4 Test. IXL skills have been assigned- check students agenda-these are due on Friday. Ledesma - Students worked on solving one-step equations.

Homework assignments and classwork were checked for quality output -(please check with students to ensure that they are practicing conscientiously. and IXL skills are done with students showing their work- observation -students are doing too many questions to achieve the target score-this does not add to stock knowledge.
Next week we will work on deriving the equation from word problems and solving and checking same using the same procedural step-identify the operation, use inverse operations and check by substituting the value of the variable(MSG notes and practice exercise should be revised. Quiz over equations FRIDAY Ledesma - Students practiced solving problems using the order of operations. They also practiced determining whether a given pair of (x,y) values would be a solution to an equation. HW: Finish the classwork Shaw: Today we worked on solving one step equations-students were provided with one and one support, and a scaffolding format to help them improve on the procedural steps and checking their work for accuracy.(MSG 9a). Students assignments were also individually marked-students need to spend quality time on practice worksheets. Assignment: MSG-Period 1-9b and 10b, and Period 3 -9b and 12a. Quiz is on Friday. All grades for HW, classwork, and IXL will be collected on Friday- students were guided on presentation, completeness and accuracy of work-all work must be shown. Leach - It was great to see everyone today! I'm eager to have a great second half of the year! Today, students learned to use inverse operations to solve one-step equations. We took guided notes in the MSG and practiced solving equations. HW: MSG p. 9b and 10a - Show ALL work/steps! Shaw: Encouraged students to pursue their work with vigor, and escalate the good performance they have shown on the Math Inventory Test. Today we reviewed the steps to solving one step equations: Addition and Subtraction, and Multiplication and Division-provided students with modeled examples and discussed key vocabulary concepts associated with this lesson. Student have a classwork and a home work assignment for practice/and completion. Tomorrow , we will mark assignments, and review inequalities.(Students are to continue revising notes and worked exercises in MSG). We will complete a Touchstone on one step equations and inequalities. IXL due for completion by Friday:Z1,Z2,Z4,Z7 Z8,**NEW additions under Z-two new skills added to IXL-solve one step equations-addition and subtraction, and multiplication and division.(**These two skill areas are compulsory and must be completed by Friday.
