Shaw: Today we worked on using the formula(A=bh)/2-to find the areas of various triangles.MSG- page 8 and on smart board- work modeled for students showing all the steps: Formula, substitute into formula, and solve-answers to be written in square units/unit square.
Classwork given to students-(worksheet)these were to be done in class-most students completed their work and the others are due on Monday-(this will be graded as classwork-no credit if the procedural are not followed). Students are expected to work on IXL skills assigned -check agenda, MSG for guidance-scores are to be recorded in MSG.

Bothers - Today, students took the Unit 4 Test. There is no homework. Katz - Today we finally took the Unit 4 End of Unit Test. I gave classes an extra day of review yesterday. The students also received their new MSG today. HW: IXL FF.2; Quizlet Vocab MSG pg. 1 Leach - Today, students learned to find the area of triangles. HW: IXL FF.3 Ledesma - Today, students learned to write and graph inequalities. HW: MSG pgs. 18 and 19a; Yellow IXL due Monday! Shaw: Today we commenced understanding the vocabulary concepts associated with Areas of Triangles-(Area, types of triangles ,base, height, formula ,unit used for area, substituting into the formula-All vocabulary definitions must be completed and revised for tomorrow).
Modeled examples/demonstrations and video presentations were provided to all students. HW-Study MSG page 8a and complete 8b 'you try- a-e) IXL assigned skills FF2, FF3 and FF 4 will be checked tomorrow(please solve these by using pencil and paper-it will be good for building stock knowledge. There will be an in class evaluation on Finding the Areas of Triangles-all procedural steps to be followed-FORMULA, SUBSTITUTE GIVEN VALUES, AND SOLVE-AREAS MUST BE WRITTEN IN SQUARE UNITS. Bothers - Today, students completed a review of equations, inequalities, and direct variation to prepare students for tomorrow's test. HW: Finish Unit 4 Review; Test is tomorrow! Leach - Today in class we previewed Unit 5 vocab and standards. HW: IXL FF2 – Area of rectangles and squares Ledesma - Students learned to write inequalities and graph them on number lines. Students are expected to complete/write the vocabulary definitions and research same if necessary. Students also need to revise the concept map/standards to understand what is required to learn in this lesson.(including the circle map). IXL skills have been assigned for this unit-FF2 and FF3- (student have the required skills in their MSGs and scores are to be recorded). Tomorrow we will begin this unit- Lesson one: Areas of Right Triangles and other triangles. Finding areas and applying the formula to find areas of Right Triangles and other triangles. Bothers: Students practiced Unit 4 skills in the computer lab. We worked on Mini-Touchstones and IXL. Homework: Complete any past-due Unit 4 IXL standards with at least an 80 (these standards are Z.1, Z.2, Z.3, Z.4, Z.New, Z.New, Z.6, Z.8, AA.1, AA.2, AA.3, BB.1, R.14, and R.17). Shaw: Today the mini post test was administered and a Touchstone Test(4 questions) was completed on solving one step equations and inequalities(Both of these will be assessed and graded).
Tomorrow, we will address the UNIT 4 study guide in preparation for UNIT 4 test. In addition, IXL assigned skills will be evaluated-these are necessary prerequisites skills for success on the 6th grade standards. Leach - Students worked on writing and solving equations from word problems. HW: 1st, 3rd, 4th: Choose 5 problems on each side of the WS; Corrections due by FRI. 2nd: Finish classwork worksheet & Corrections are due by FRIDAY Shaw: Today we summarized Unit 4 using a tree map-identifying the lessons covered and reviewing the main components of each lesson. After the review, we practiced writing equations from word problems-MSG 12b, 13a, 13b and 14 and 14- students have homework assignment from the MSG-following and using the format modeled for them(examples were given). Tomorrow, we will continue with reviewing previous units (student have a WS-Monday to Thursday with problems to reconnect with previous knowledge, and continue we will continue working on word problems. On Wednesday we will review-Inequalities and Direct Variation. On Thursday we will complete the Mini Post Test and work on study guide for the Unit 4 Test. IXL skills have been assigned- check students agenda-these are due on Friday. Ledesma - Students worked on solving one-step equations.

Homework assignments and classwork were checked for quality output -(please check with students to ensure that they are practicing conscientiously. and IXL skills are done with students showing their work- observation -students are doing too many questions to achieve the target score-this does not add to stock knowledge.
Next week we will work on deriving the equation from word problems and solving and checking same using the same procedural step-identify the operation, use inverse operations and check by substituting the value of the variable(MSG notes and practice exercise should be revised. |
