Leach - Students used the order of operations to evaluate expressions. HW: Order of Operations WS (choose one side to complete); Finish IXL (yellow sheet) by tomorrow - D2 and O3; Unit 2 Test Corrections are due by Wed. for more points! Ledesma - Students were in the computer lab working on Unit 2 Touchstones. HW: Unit 3 Vocabulary MSG pg. 3b. Work on Gold IXL due: Tuesday Shaw: Today the HW assignment on exponents was marked on the smart board and students were given the opportunity to correct their work-students were advised to keep in binder for study-To reinforce same, an in class activity with Identifying the Exponential Form, Expanded Form and Standard Form was completed and discussed.
Order of Operations video was shown and discussed-In addition ,MSG pages 7a and 7b was examined, examples and procedural steps shown-most student completed this in class.(students must show the procedural steps, following order of operations (PEMDAS)to conclude the solution process. A WS was given for homework practice. A Touchstone evaluation will be completed tomorrow.(Students are to revise all work completed and recap IXL Skills assigned during the week.

Bothers - Today, we were in the computer lab working on Mini-Touchstones and IXL. HW: IXL O.3 and O.6 are due Monday, along with ALL makeup IXL standards! Katz - Today we were in the computer lab taking Touchstones for Unit 2. Any time left was spent working on IXL. HW: IXL O.3 Leach - Today, students practiced writing and solving expressions with exponents. HW: Finish Exponents WS; IXL D2 and O3 (if you have not already completed!) Ledesma - Today, students took the Unit 3 Pre-test and received their Unit 3 MSGs. Then, they learned to write and evaluate expressions with exponents. HW: MSG pg. 6 (powers and exponents). Work on Gold IXL.
Shaw: Today we commenced UNIT 3 EXPRESSIONS-Lesson 1-Writing and solving expressions with exponents. Notes and modeled examples were demonstrated and discussed with students(MSG 5b and 6a and 6b)
Homework-Worksheet on exponents(homework grade will be taken).Students were asked to look at two video clips on Exponents and Order of Operations. Some students have completed IXL assignments-others have not started-please follow up with students- these prerequisite skills will be helpful and will reinforce teaching on this subject. Bothers - Today we finished the Unit 2 End of Unit Test and took the pre-test for Unit 3. Students also learned/reviewed exponents (writing and evaluating exponential expressions). Leach - Today we finished the Unit 2 End of Unit Test and took the pre-test for Unit 3. Students also learned/reviewed exponents (writing and evaluating exponential expressions). HW: IXL D.2 and O.3 (Unit 3 preview) Ledesma - Today, we finished the Unit 2 End of Unit Test. Students also took the Mini-Touchstones in the lab. We will take the Unit 3 pre-test and learn about exponents on Wednesday! HW: Lime Green IXL due today. New IXL (Gold) given today is due Tuesday, 11/12
Shaw: Today we set up UNIT 3 EXPRESSIONS-develop a concept map, and circle map.
For homework students are to complete writing/copying the definitions of the vocabulary concepts of unit 3.(Students were asked to look at two video clips on Exponents and Order of Operations). Wednesday , we will complete a pretest on Unit 3(not for a grade),and students will complete circle map for their MSG. We will work from the MSG-exercises on Exponents. A work sheet will be given to reinforce same. (Students should have in their agendas-an outline of what we do for the rest of the week-please check students agendas). IXL skills were assigned for the week-these will be graded on Friday-D2, O3 and O6. Today, we took the Unit 2 End-of-Unit Test. The focus of this test was proportions, and it included problems involving percents and measurement. Next week, we will begin Unit 3: Expressions. The first standards we will cover involve exponents and order of operations. Shaw: Today students completed UNIT 2-TEST-students were given a study guide which was completed in class(details on procedural steps and checking for accuracy were highlighted), and students were given the opportunity to use same, in addition to their MSG .
Students were also given 'hard copies' of three Touchstones exercises(Based on lessons-Unit 2 )and these are to be completed -answers will be inputted on Monday 11/04/2019. Students are encouraged to complete all assigned skills on IXL before we commence UNIT 3. |
