Bothers - Today, students learned to apply proportions to real-world problems. They set up proportions and solved for the missing values. HW: Proportions WS (Pick any 6 problems); IXL R.9, R.12, R.13 are due on Monday!
Leach - Today, students continued to practice solving proportions. HW: Test Corrections due tomorrow! IXL R12 & 13 Shaw: Today's lesson covered a review of proportions-how to solve same using the following strategies-simplifying, finding the cross products, and using the table to establish and show that proportions are equivalent. We also worked on applying proportions to solve real world problems-how to set up the equation and solve for the unknown quantity/value -modeled examples were provided to all students. Students have a work sheet to practice on and IXL skills to support and reinforce the above concepts. (Quiz tomorrow will be based on concepts taught, and they can use their study guide and notes to revise ). Ledesma - Today, students learned to apply proportions to real-world problems. They set up proportions and solved for the missing values. HW: Finish Word Problem Proportion Worksheet. Work on Ivory IXL due: Monday!
Bothers - Today, students learned to find missing values in a proportion. Students took notes on 4 different methods, and then they practiced on the whiteboards. HW: Complete the back of yesterday's homework; IXL R.9, R.11, R.12, and R.13 are due Monday, 10/21
Leach - Today, students continued to find missing values in a proportion. HW: Proportions practice sheet (do front- back is extra credit); Test corrections due by FRIDAY to raise your grade; IXL R12 & R13 Shaw: Students were instructed on Proportions-classwork -determining whether ratios are equivalent(YES/NO)-solving same to justify responses. Students have a WS to complete, and IXL R11, R 12, R13 due on Friday. Students will have a short quiz on Friday on Ratios, Rates and Proportions. Ledesma - Today, students learned to find missing values in a proportion. HW: Proportion Worksheet (back of yesterday’s homework). Work on IXL (Ivory)
Bothers - Today, students were introduced to proportions. A proportion is an equation of equivalent ratios. They learned how to identify a proportion using several different methods (simplifying, using equivalent ratios, and cross-multiplying). We also briefly explored how to find a missing value in a proportion. HW: Proportions WS (front); IXL R.9, R.11, R.12, and R.13 are due on Monday
Katz - Today we finished our Unit 2 Mid-Unit tests and worked on test corrections. Tomorrow we will begin learning about proportions. HW: IXL R.12 Leach - Today, students continued to practice proportions. HW: Proportions practice worksheet; IXL R8, R9, R12; Test Corrections due by FRIDAY Shaw: Commenced instructions on proportions-MSG pages 13a and 13 b. Modeled examples and demonstrations were done on smart board and IN MSG. Home work assignments: Review exercise on rates and unit rates and Worksheet on Proportions to be completed for Wednesday. Ledesma - Today, students were introduced to proportions. HW: Equivalent Ratio (proportion) WS- side 1 ONLY! Work on IVORY IXL due: MONDAY
Bothers - Today, students took the Unit 2 Mid-Unit Test (1st period finished from Friday). Then, they worked on a "Face-ing Math" activity for additional practice of ratios and unit rates. HW: Finish "Face-ing Math"; IXL R.9, R.11, R.12, and R.13 are due on Monday, 10/21 Katz - Today we took the Unit 2 Mid-Unit test. Here is a look at our week ahead:
Leach - Students were introduced to proportions. HW: Proportions practice WS; IXL R.12 Shaw: Today students were given the opportunity to correct Test and earn partial credit. With time the left(shortened periods- because of conference week) students worked on completing Touchstones('hard copies)-these will be inputted in the system later. And ,finally we looked a video on PROPORTIONS- this lesson will commence tomorrow, we will continue to work on this subject to the end of the week. Students were advised to complete all prerequisites skills given last week on IXL-For this week students are to complete IXL-R12 and R13.
Mrs. Leach's classes and Mrs. Bothers's 1st period took the Unit 2 Midway Test today. All other classes reviewed and will take the test on Monday! Homework:
Bothers: IXL R.5 and R.8 (if not already finished); study for test! Katz: Study for test! Leach: Continue working on IXL standards - R1, R3, R4, R5, R6, R8, R9; Work on FACEing math (bonus!) Ledesma: Mid-unit Test Study Guide. Test is Monday! IXL due Monday!! (purple) Bothers - Today, we used unit rates to determine which items were the "better deals." We will test tomorrow on ratios and unit rates! HW: Study Guide; IXL R.5 and R.8 are due on Monday
Katz - Today we worked on Unit Rate. Our test will be postponed to allow for more time on this topic tomorrow. We will test on the first half of Unit 2 on Monday! Please be sure to study your study guide over the weekend. HW: IXL R.11 Leach - Today, students reviewed ratios and unit rates for tomorrow's test. HW: Unit 2 Test over Ratios & Rates is tomorrow - STUDY! IXL practice- R8 & R9 Ledesma - Today, students used unit rates to determine which items were the "better deals." We will test ratios and unit rates on Monday!
HW: Finish "Better Buy" Worksheet. Work on IXL (purple) Bothers - Today, students practiced finding unit rates. We looked at some interesting world records and calculated their unit rates. Students also worked through the sample problems in the MSG. We will test these concepts on Friday! HW: World Record Rates WS; IXL R.5 and R.8 are due on Monday
