Today, students learned to combine like terms. We began with the video below, and students talked about how his order was overly complicated, and what could have been done to make it easier. This led us right into simplifying expressions by combining like terms. To explore this concept, students worked through the "What's in the Bank?" activity. We can't post that here due to copyrights, but a few of the answers are listed below for help! Today, students continued learning to translate words to expressions. They also practiced using substitution to evaluate expressions! Today, students learned to translate words to mathematical expressions! Students engaged in a SmartBoard activity to learn and review "math words," and they practiced the standard in their MSGs. We will take a QUIZ on Friday on using substitution to evaluate expressions and translating words to expressions!
