Today, students practiced calculating the surface area of polyhedrons such as cubes, rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, triangular pyramids, and square pyramids. Using the nets, the applied area formulas to each face and/or counted the number of square units when grids were present.
Students learned to use nets to find the surface area of polyhedrons! They applied what they've learned about composite area, since a net is a composite figure. Students explored various polyhedrons and their nets, and discovered how to calculate surface area. Click HERE for a great website for playing around with nets and surface area!
