This week, students will be taking the Scholastic Math Inventory, or SMI. This assessment will be done 3 times throughout the school year, to measure student growth.
Students will also be setting up their Math Survival Guides, or MSGs. At the start of every unit, students will receive some notes, practice sheets, and a study guide for the unit. It is crucial that students keep up with their MSGs and bring them to class DAILY! If you finish your SMI early: 1) Check out these games for practice in Unit 1 topics: a. We are all so excited to have such a great group of students this year, and we are looking forward to learning a lot of math! :)
During the first week, students were introduced to our expectations at ECMS. We have very high expectations for all students, and our goal is for everyone to succeed and improve upon last year. We talked about our Positive Behavior Intervention System (or PBIS), and modeled expectations that will assist in making ECMS a positive learning environment. We also passed out the class syllabus and discussed expectations in math class. This syllabus, and other important info, can be found under the "About" tab above.
