Today, students learned to apply what they've learned about Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple to realworld problems! We watched a clip from "Father of the Bride," in which there was a problem involving uneven numbers of hot dogs and buns. After the clip, students naturally applied the LCM to come up with a solution! Next, students filled in the guided notes in the MSG, and they worked through the practice problems. Be sure to look for those key words that are synonyms for "greatest" and "least," and think about what makes sense! All students will take the Unit 1 Test this Friday!! This will cover long division, decimal operations, fraction division, and GCF/LCM. Begin studying now!
Students learned to calculate the Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple of a set of numbers. Students reviewed the "list" method, and they also learned the "sled" method. All students will quiz tomorrow on dividing fractions and/or GCF and LCM!
~~ Math Tutoring is tomorrow morning at 8:15 AM in Mrs. Ledesma's classroom! ~~ Whew! In such a short time today, our 6th graders covered a LOT of material! We reviewed factors and multiples. Students were also introduced to divisibility rules. These "rules" or "tricks" are optional, BUT they will make a lot of your work easier! Check out the images and videos for more! Some students also began covering Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple! In the past, they learned the "list" method. Today, they also learned the "sled" method! The sled method is a very efficient way to find GCF and LCM, and it blew students' minds to learn that there is such an easy method! :)
Today, students practiced dividing fractions! Check out the videos and links below for additional practice.
