Today, students learned to simplify expressions by combining like terms. They worked through the "What's in the Bank?" activity, learning about like terms and how to simplify expressions.
NO SCHOOL TOMORROW due to elections! Today, students took a quiz to show off their understanding of substitution and translating words to math. Congrats to these kids for making an A on the quiz!
Stay tuned! :) Today, students continued learning to translate words to math! Tomorrow, all students will take a quiz on this week's standards (evaluating expressions with substitution and translating words to math).
Today, students engaged in a SmartBoard activity to learn and review math vocabulary terms and phrases. Then, they extended their knowledge to "translating words to math." Given a phrase such as "3 less than the product of 2 and y," students would write the algebraic expression, in this case, "2y - 3." Students also created a Tree Map of "Math Words" and completed practice problems on MSG page 106.
Today, students continued to practice using substitution to evaluate expressions and formulas. They participated in a dice activity to practice the skill during warm-ups, and then they engaged in a "Pick-a-Ride" activity to practice.
